Mineral Wool
Mineral Wool Insul Inc rockwool products are manufactured from a molten mixture of natural rock bonded with a thermosetting binder. They offer outstanding thermal insulation, fire protection, sound control and personal protection properties. All Insul King products are manufactured to the strictest international quality standards.

The Rocks are melted in furnace using coke as fuel at approximately 1500 deg C , and the molten lava is fiberized by the use of four water cooled spinning wheels. the fibers are then coated with a thermosetting binder which, when heat cured, bonds the fibers into a mattress. The mattress is then cut into suitable sizes for packaging.

Relatively small rigid pieces (eg 1200 x 600 mm) are called slabs, large peices (eg 3000 x 910 mm) are called mats. Slabs and mats can be produced in a range of densities and thicknesses. Typical densities range from 40-150 kg/cu mtr. Thickness range from 25 to 100mm in single layer. Preformed pipe section is produced by taking the uncured wool from the line andmoulding it around a mandrel of the same size as the pipe to be insulated. The moulded pipe section is then heat cured.

Rockwool slabs, mats and preformed pipe sections can also be supplied with a wide range of factory applied surface finishes, such as aluminium foil, glass cloth and wire mesh.
